| Eligibility | Applicants must have one or more of the following:- experience with AOD use or service access and/or mental health distress, recovery, service access AND completion and/or part completion of a community services accredited training course* within the last five (5) years OR,
- understanding of the learning and professional development needs of the AOD workforce OR,
- experience in writing and/or developing accredited training and assessment materials at a Certificate IV or higher qualification level.
Skills we are looking for include: - Interpreting units of competency, performance criteria, performance and knowledge evidence.
- Mapping training and assessment materials with training package requirements.
- Creation of training and assessment materials including Training and Assessment Strategies (TAS), PowerPoint slides, session plans, and assessment tools.
*This is a nationally accredited course and examples could include:
– CHC40125 Certificate IV in Community Services
– CHC43315 Certificate IV in Mental Health
– CHC43515 Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work
– CHC43215 Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs |
| Workload | The Exploring Training Options Technical Advisory Committee (ETO TAC) meets approximately fortnightly over a three-month period and then intermittently thereafter for the duration of the project as needed. To support our TAC members to prepare for Committee meetings, we may: - schedule a 30 minute online (via Teams) ‘pre meeting’ with TAC members a few days before each Committee meeting; and/or
- assign around 30 minutes ‘pre reading’ for TAC members to read before each Committee meeting.
In addition, we may ask for your input on the ETO Project outside of TAC meetings. We predict this ‘out of session’ input may take up to 15 hours across 2025. Review and update the following training and assessment materials: - Training and Assessment Strategy
- PowerPoint slides
- Session plans
- Resource book and/or eLearning
- Assessment book.
Please note that some of these documents are large i.e. more than 50 pages in length. |
| Role | - Attend, participate in and provide input to ETO TAC meetings scheduled across 2025-2026.
- If required, attend online pre meetings and/or complete all pre reading prior to meetings.
- Provide out of session input to the PSG as requested.
- Meet with the PSG for an initial meeting to discuss role requirements and process.
- Review consultation feedback from pilot participants in relation to the three Units of Competency (UoC).
- Develop a Training and Assessment Strategy for the part qualification.
- Review, update and create training and assessment materials for the 3 UoCs based on consultation feedback and in accordance with requirements and Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs).
- Confirming validity of training and assessment materials before and after completion by participants.
- Presenting final draft training and assessment materials to the PSG.
- Incorporating further PSG feedback into resources.
- Providing guidance and consultation to pilot trainers and assessors.

| Support while you are in this role | The ETO Project Steering Group is fortunate to have Alice Pierce on our team. Alice identifies as a living experience worker and has over a decade of professional experience in the AOD sector, and she is currently the Director of Programs at NUAA. Alice will be available to chat about your role on the ETO TAC. You might want to ask Alice questions to make sure you understand everything. If you feel more comfortable, you can also provide your input to the ETO TAC directly through Alice. | Payment | Sitting fees and/or wages support is available at a payment of $60.00 per hour for:- ETO TAC meeting attendance;
- any agreed pre-reading or pre-meetings required before ETO TAC meetings; and
- time spent providing out of session input into the ETO Project.
