Read moreWe need your help to continue advocating for community-based mental health services that provide person-centred and peer-led supports for people experiencing mental health challenges. Community-based mental health services are evidence-based and proven to work, but are under recognised and underfunded.
Your donation will help us advocate for better policies and funding for community-managed mental health services across NSW, so more people living with mental health challenges can access community-based, person-centred care.
With your support, we can deliver better outcomes for people living with mental health challenges.
One in five people experience a mental health or behavioural challenge every year in New South Wales. Based on current statistics, by 2041 that will grow to 1.96 million people.
A recent evaluation of two key community-support programs revealed that among participants, hospital admissions due to mental health decreased by 74%.
A return-on-investment study found that for every $1 invested in a peer-led mental health service, approximately $3.27 of social and economic value was generated.
As the peak body for community-managed mental health organisations in New South Wales, Mental Health Coordinating Council is working hard to strengthen the sector so more people can access the right supports, at the right time, in the right place. We provide advocacy for the sector through a strong, collective voice for community-based mental health supports that champion a human rights approach.
Our work influences policy and systemic change, to create better mental health outcomes for all.
