Frequently Asked Questions

Why was my enrolment cancelled?

Students have a maximum period of time to complete their course. If your enrolment was cancelled, this would have been because you exceeded the maximum enrolment period. For Fast Track students, your enrolment may have been cancelled due to non-attendance at the mandatory training sessions, or for not submitting all required documents within the timeframe

Was I notified about my enrolment being cancelled?

All students who were due to have their enrolment cancelled were contacted via phone and sent a follow-up email outlining the outcome. If we were unable to contact you via phone, you still would have been emailed with a letter outlining the outcome. We recommend checking your junk folders and ensuring MHCC is on your safe senders list. Alternatively, if your email address is not current with us, you may not have received the email communication.

I would like to appeal this decision. How do I do that?

If you had applied for a formal deferral of your course, or believe that this decision is not correct, please email us at studentsupport@mhcc.org.au and one of our team members will be in contact with you.

Can I re-enrol?

It’s great that you are still interested in studying and completing your course. We welcome any applications for future courses; however, there are no guarantees on enrolment until courses are advertised and applications are received and reviewed. If you are eligible and do enrol in a future course, any units you have successfully completed may be eligible for Credit Transfer (CT).

When will the new accredited training courses commence?

It’s great that you’re interested in our accredited training. We will offer new certificate training in early 2024. Our suite of professional development training, both face-to-face and online, are still running as normal. To be informed of future course dates, you can sign up to our fortnightly Training Newsletter here.

How do I find out when the next accredited training course will start?

The best way to find out when any of our courses are accepting applications is by signing up to our fortnightly Training Newsletter. The newsletter provides details on all upcoming courses and information on how to apply. You can sign up for the newsletter through our website. You can also check out our website for latest course details. If you still need more information, email us at training@mhcc.org.au

My work requires me to be undertaking training suited to the expectation of my role. What do I tell my employer?

We acknowledge that any cancellation or delay is frustrating. You can refer your employer to these FAQs. New accredited courses will be recommencing again in early 2024 and you can re-apply via the link in our fortnightly Training Newsletter once applications open. Please note that we are unable to guarantee re-enrolment, and this will be dependent on eligibility criteria. MHCC values your participation and remains committed to supporting students in gaining qualifications that assist in their employment

What can I do instead of a Certificate course?

Our popular professional development face-to-face and online courses will continue as usual. To find out more about these courses go to our website or sign up for our fortnightly Training Newsletter here

Will there be any difference with the accredited courses offered next year?

MHCC will continue to deliver the CHC43515 Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work and CHC43315 Certificate IV in Mental Health as standard 12-month courses. However, no new Fast Track courses will be offered for the foreseeable future.

Why are you not running any more Fast Track courses?

MHCC pioneered the Fast Track option of our Certificate IV courses in response to workforce needs at the time. As the mental health and peer work sectors continue to develop, we want to ensure our courses meet the needs of the workforce whilst also ensuring quality duration and learning of the course material.

How do I apply for a Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work scholarship through the Mental Health Commission of NSW?

If you are interested in applying for a Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work scholarship place funded by the Mental Health Commission of NSW for one of our 2024 courses, please refer to the eligibility criteria here. If you meet the eligibility, you can send your Expression of Interest (EOI) to training@mhcc.org.au with the subject line ‘MHC Scholarship’. Please note that these scholarships are not available to students who have previously been a Mental Health Commission scholarship recipient.
