Project Steering Group

Exploring Training Options for the AOD Lived and Living Experience Workforce – Pilot Program

Information on the role

Eligibility	Applicants must have experience of AOD use or treatment and/or mental health distress, recovery or service access; Applicants must have also completed any of the following qualifications: CHC43515 Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work CHC43215 Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs OR Any Certificate IV or above level qualification in community services or a related field.
Workload	The Exploring Training Options Project Steering Group (ETO PSG) meets at least quarterly for 2 hours per meeting. To support PSG members to prepare for Steering Group meetings, we may: schedule a 30 minute online (via Teams) ‘pre meeting’ with members a few days before each Steering Group meeting; and/or assign around 30 minutes ‘pre reading’ for members to read before each Steering Group meeting. In addition, there will be review of detailed training and assessment material outside of PSG meetings. We predict this ‘out of session’ input may take up to 10 hours across 2025-2026.
Role	Attend, participate in and provide input to all PSG meetings scheduled in 2025-2026. If required, attend online pre meetings and/or complete all pre reading prior to Steering Group meetings. Provide out of session input to the Project and PSG as requested. Contribute to the review and evaluation of the project.
Timeline	From June 2025 – November 2026, the PSG meeting dates are planned for: Thursday 12 June 2025 10am – 12pm Thursday 11 September 2025 10am – 12pm Thursday 13 November 2025 10am – 12pm Thursday 12 February 2026 10am – 12pm Thursday 16 April 2026 10am – 12pm Thursday 4 June 2026 10am – 12pm Thursday 10 September 2026 10am – 12pm Thursday 12 November 2026 10am – 12pm
Terms of Engagement	Members will be appointed for the full project duration to 31 December 2026.
Location	Flexible depending on location and/or preference. PSG meetings can be attended either: face to face in Sydney or online via Microsoft Teams
Support while you are in this role	The ETO PSG is fortunate to have Alice Pierce on our team. Alice identifies as a living experience worker and has over a decade of professional experience in the AOD sector, and she is currently the Director of Programs at NUAA. Alice will be available to chat about your role on the ETO PSG. You might want to ask Alice questions to make sure you understand everything. If you feel more comfortable, you can also provide your input to the ETO PSG directly through Alice. All members of the ETO Project team will be available for questions or support throughout the project.
Payment	Participants will be paid sitting fees and/or wages support of $60.00 per hour for: ETO Project Steering Group meeting attendance; any agreed pre-reading or pre-meetings required before ETO Project Steering Group meetings; and time spent providing out of session input into the ETO PSG and/or Project. Please invoice MHCC at training@mhcc.org.au for your time following each Steering Group meeting. Please note that at this time, there is no funding available to cover transport or accommodation costs for participation in this ETO Project Steering Group.
