Introduction to Trauma Informed Practice

This introductory course is a series of four half-day online sessions designed to develop core principles of Trauma Informed Practice.

Course details

Introduction to Trauma Informed Practice is bite-sized training accessible for all, run over four half day sessions.

What is Trauma? explores the biology, types and definitions of trauma.

Safety Making explores meanings of safety and inclusive practice.

Living with Trauma explores experiences of people living with trauma, coping strategies, and impacts of trauma.

De-escalation and Disclosure explores how to respond to disclosure, de-escalation strategies, relational work, and self-reflection.

Come to one or all four!

Course outcomes

This training will develop knowledge and skills to:

  • Recognise trauma and its impact
  • Promote safety and inclusivity
  • Assist with de-escalation strategies
  • Respond to disclosure
